Intercessory prayer is fun — a way of networking with people around you and seeing God’s activity in your daily lives.  Recently I have been reading, Incredible Answers to Prayer,  by Roger Morneau.  He writes,

“When we pray for someone else, it permits God to work in lives with special power.  He unshackles the individuals from the chains of sin so the person can use his freedom of choice to choose good. (p. 12)”

Consider this concept:  “Intercessory prayers are most effective when sin is not separating the subjects of one’s prayers from God. (p. 11)”So begin your intercessory prayers by:

  1. Thanking God for the privilege of asking for His divine help for those for whom you are praying.

2.  Pointing to the infinite price that Jesus paid on the Cross.3.  Asking God to forgive the person’s sins, thus doing for that person what he cannot or is not willing to do for himself, namely dealing with the sin in his life.Next time you pray for someone, follow the example of Jesus when — while he was being crucified — he asked his Heavenly Father to forgive those people who were murdering him.  (Luke 23:24)Screen Shot 2013-08-31 at 1.33.59 AM
