A Skit: What really happened in the Garden of Eden?
Subtitle: Why do so many women want a good man in their lives?Setting: Luscious garden of Eden, beautiful woman, handsome man, fruit trees galore, a sneaky serpent.Dialogue: Serpent (Satan, the tempter) to Eve: “Did God really say, ‘You CANNOT eat from EVERY one of these trees?”Eve (shyly defending the Creator to the serpent): “Oh, no. We can eat from all the trees, just not that one — the one with the fruit of knowledge.” Saying this, Eve now starts to think about the imposed rule, gets miffed with God, and raises her voice. “Heck, Serpent, now that I think about it, God doesn’t EVEN want us to touch that fruit. If we do, He says we will die!”The Serpent (Satan, the liar): “Oh, Eve, you will not die!” The look on her face says she is hooked. So Serpent continues: “When you eat that special fruit your eyes will be opened. You will KNOW ALL there is to know. You will become like the Creator. God said ‘not to eat’ because He doesn’t want that competition.”The Serpent (Satan, the thief) knows that if she eats of the tree of knowledge, she will then know good and evil. Disobedience will open the doors to Ra, all evil, all that is harmful, destructive, malignant, and just plain BAD. The Serpent deliberately fails to tell her the consequences of her potential disobedience.Eve (emboldened by the idea of KNOWING ALL and becoming like God) walks over to the tree, that luscious tree of knowledge smack dab in the middle of her paradise. “Oh, this fruit seems to be good to eat. It smells delightful, something I would like to taste. And it looks beautiful, something my eyes desire.” She turns to the Serpent. “And did you say that if I eat this I will be wise, all-knowing, just like God?”Without a word, The Serpent watches his prey, and waits. Satan, the destroyer, sneaks man’s blessing of paradise and the promise of eternal life right into its slimy pocket. Eve is clueless.Eve eats. She holds the fruit out to her man. And he eats.Only then, after both have eaten of the tree of knowledge, do their eyes open. Together, Adam and Eve meet Ra, evil. They see their nakedness. They experience shame and guilt. They run and hide. Disconnected from their Maker, deserving punishment, God lays on Adam and Eve the Curse. Eve will henceforth experience pain in motherhood and crave the love of her man. Adam will sweat and toil amidst metaphorical thistles and thorns every day in order to produce food to eat. This is not the end of the story: In God’s mercy He does not want his man and woman to live forever knowing Ra. He doesn’t want his beloved stuck in the presence of evil for all eternity. So the Heavenly Father expels Adam and Eve from the garden to prevent them from eating of the tree of life. Eve’s seed will multiply. Adam and his offspring will feed mankind. And God the Father will take the brunt of this punishment by sacrificing His Son. The Seed (Jesus) will crush the head of the Serpent on the Cross. God insures the ultimate victory of All-that-is-God over Ra.As for a woman’s cravings for a man in her life?
