Deliverance Ministry - Part 2: The Undergirding Doctrines

The key to understanding deliverance is knowing our authority over demons.  The basic Gospel message is at the heart of this ministry: Jesus came, suffered, died, was buried. Jesus was resurrected and ascended into Heaven and sits as Victor on the throne of God. That act gives us all authority under heaven and earth. But there is a bit more to it.   Let me share five important points: 1.   Lucifer, a supernatural being who wanted to be worshipped the same as God, rebelled against the Almighty.  So God threw him down to earth, and he was named satan, which means “the adversary.”  AND mankind joined that rebellion and became alienated from our Creator.2.  Because of this ongoing spiritual battle, men and women are vulnerable to satan and supernatural beings which are under the adversary’s control.  These spirit entities are known as fallen angels, demons or evil or unclean spirits.3.  These powers of darkness or spirit entities have no flesh life of their own.  They do have a will and a mind, and  seek to occupy the bodies of men and woman in order to pursue their rebellion against God.  Their mission on earth is to keep people in bondage to satan.  If an evil spirit is inside a person, the person is said to be demonized.4.  The way to escape the dark realm is by becoming born again when one accepts Jesus as one’s Savior.  When a person becomes a Christian, there is a change of ownership.  The new Christian is then “possessed of God.”   The word possessed implies ownership. Any demons hanging on to the person’s life before salvation do not necessarily leave the person at the time of his conversion, but they no longer possess or own that Christian. The unclean spirits have no legal right to the Christian.  A born-again believer cannot be possessed by demons, but the territory of his life can certainly be occupied or oppressed. So a Christian can still be demonized and in need of deliverance. Because of our position in Christ, and under the blood of the Cross, satanic influences have no sway in our lives. We have the authority to rebuke them and kick them out of our territory.5.  If people are not willing to believe that they could be demonized, then healing from deliverance is rarely possible.  These people have given the demons the right to be present in their lives through their attitude of unbelief.  I believe many people have not been educated about the reality of demons, and therefore are in bondage to dark side influences, strongholds, and possible demon oppression.I will share more about the characteristics of experiencing deliverance in the next blog.(The content in this blog comes from Peter Horrobin, Healing Through Deliverance,  pgs. 289-290) In Christ,large-signature
