Want to know what a pickle prayer is?

Pickle_initerview

Recently, I was prepping a three-hour presentation at a church where I had not spoken before. One hour before the guests were to arrive,  the host had asked me to do a power point on the message, “Blessings From Paradise,” so I came dutifully prepared with my Apple computer, a Mac-compatible power point completed.   But I was unfamiliar with their electronic equipment, which was a PC, and they were not knowledgeable about the apple system.  So with one hour until “show time,” we could not get the power point on my apple to sync with the PC equipment on their screen.  Oh, dear!

Different people hovered around both computers trying to figure out the technical issue.  When the guests started to arrive, ten minutes early, I literally dropped to my knees in front of the computer, and prayer, “Jesus, help us.  We need to get this working.”

The hostess helping me, said, “Oh, you just prayed a ‘pickle prayer’!”

“What’s a pickle prayer?” I asked.

“When you are in a pickle, you pray a short ‘help me’, and Jesus does.”

Sure enough, with only five minutes until I had to start my message, the necessary ideas came together so that we could link the two systems. The power point was up and running!

Amen and Amen.    I’m now into “pickle praying.”
