Put on the Helmet of Salvation.
Getting a cold? Struggling with depression? Fighting head aches? Thinking crazy thoughts?Try this: put on the helmet of salvation. The helmet of salvation is God’s ordained medicine.A helmet is a maowz (ma-owes), a Hebrew word that has its root in a word that means “to be strong and prevail.” The helmet is a saving defense, a stronghold in battle. In Greek, helmet literally means “that which has been wrapped around the head.” Daniel 11:10 says that the Enemy will sweep on towards someone like an irresistible flood and carry the battle as far as his maowz. The helmet stops the enemy’s attack. When you wear the helmet of salvation, Satan has no power in your life.King David wrote in Psalm 60, “God declared, ‘Ephraim is my helmet,’ referring to the Tribe of Ephraim, from the second born son of Jacob. The name Ephraim means, “God has made me fruitful in the land of my suffering.”A helmet is that which protects your head, your thoughts, your vital energy. It is the most important part of your armor in the spiritual battle. It allows you to be fruitful and effective even while you are suffering. So put on the helmet of salvation. Salvation comes from the word, Yeshuwah (Yosh-shoe-ah). This means deliverance, victory AND HEALING. Notice Psalm 69:29: “But as for me, afflicted and in pain — may your salvation, God, protect me.” Salvation has the word salve in it; just remember salvation is the salve you put on your injury or illness. This is my challenge: let us each put on the helmet of salvation. Let us each combat illness, whether physical or mental, by putting on the God-ordained head covering of complete healing. This is both a simple, but profound, act of faith.First, believe that Jesus, whose very name means salvation, died for you, that his act of being crucified saved you from your sins.Second, believe that Jesus’s death on the cross is the instrument of your complete healing. Claim that fact by faith — whether it is for an annoying cold, a depressive mood or a more traumatic injury or disease. Place the helmet of salvation on. Believe you are healed. Then give thanks that God will make you fruitful in the midst of your “sick” symptoms, and rebuke them and Satan’s attempts to convince you otherwise. Declare yourself “healed”. Wear the helmet of salvation by faith. The experience of full healing will follow.
