Sail with Jesus on the Sea of Galilee

Picture yourself in a Galilean fishing vessel with Jesus.  You and he are sitting on a wooden bench towards the bow.  The sail crackles in the wind, fully extended.  You can feel the  swell of the waves kissing the beams of the boat.  You hear the cawing of the birds as they dart from lake to sky.

Jesus puts his arm around your shoulders and says,  “Enjoy this moment, dear one.  Remember this moment of being in my presence. It will help you brave your fears when the storm comes and bashes our boat.  It will give you patience when you must sit still, floating, waiting, during a calm.  It will give you strength when you are faced with an unmanageable catch of fish. Take time to burn this image into your mind. Because, as we do life together, you will need it. I love you.”
