Sitting By the fire of Jesus

As my friend added another log to our campfire, I moved my stool back a foot from our circle around the fire pit.   I was getting too hot sitting that close.

Have you ever experienced that:  sitting near a fire, feeling its radiating heat, and getting almost too hot?

This image came to mind when I read the scene in which Jesus was being flocked by the people in the region of Galilee.  ”And the people all tried to touch him because power was coming from him and healing them all. (Luke 6:19,)”

The word, “to touch” in Greek is hapto (hop-toe).  It means “to fasten fire to a thing or to be set on fire.”  So my adaptation of this verse is:  “All the people wanted Jesus to set them on fire.  The LORD was healing them with his power (dynamis) because His Divine Fire was heating them up.”

Notice:  People were healed simply because they were in His Presence.  His very Person gave off a healing fire. His holy heat brought healing.  

There is much that can be said about how God heals, whether He heals instantaneously or gradually, whether with the laying on of hands or through an anointing of oil, or with no visible ritual. But it is a fact that Our Creator is in the business of healing.   Scripture teaches that one name of Sovereign God is Jehovah Rapha, Our God Heals.  

Therefore, your healing — whether of body, mind or soul — starts with your being in His Presence. It is kindled by His miraculous energy, set on fire by His Divine spark.  So step into His Presence and ASK for His Fire so you will receive healing.
