The Importance of Knowing Yourself

When one is called into a healing ministry it is vital to really know who you are.  After all, the truth is what sets you free.  The importance of knowing one’s identity, namely answering “who am I?”, is best explained in James 1. Here scripture describes a person who doesn’t know himself as a wave bouncing around on a sea, tossed hither and yon.  He is “unstable in all his ways.”  The growth process of one’s identity formation, conversion, and sanctification starts with answering that fundamental question. Before I can accept myself, I must know myself.  I must know who God made me to be.  Then I grow in accepting myself with the same unconditional love with which God accepts me.If you or I are going to be involved in deliverance ministry, we need to know as much about ourselves as possible.  This knowledge is necessary so I can recognize,  rebuke, and   stay “clean” of evil spirits. To know myself, I need to know the following aspects of my personality:1.  What is my foundational relationship with Jesus Christ?2.  What areas of my soul/spirit might be “empty”, (i.e. not yielded to the Holy Spirit)?  Knowing this truth allows me to protect myself from satan moving in (or back in) to my spirit and oppressing me.3.  What possible “open doors” or “attachments” might I (or my ancestors) have,  permitting the adversary to have access to me?4.  What are my thoughts, the Holy Spirit’s thoughts, and the adversary’s thoughts, so I can discern the right from the wrong, and discard what the enemy is saying? How well do you know yourself?Self-awareness is an ongoing process.Enjoy the adventure. In Christ,large-signature
