Walking the Trapeze Wire of Life
“I have not yet learned thoroughly to believe what I believe in!" So wrote Austin-Sparks fifty years ago. That is right on the money! I can declare to you that I want to do all acts through Christ, to think all things under Christ, and to believe all promises of Christ. But if you knew me up close and personal, you would know I fail. And so do you, my sisters and brothers in Christ. Let’s face this truth. We are missing the mark of God’s perfection. We are sinners. Paul wrote about it in Romans 7: we don’t do what we should; we do do what we shouldn’t, and we feel there is no help for us.
EXCEPT, there is help! Paul went on boldly in Romans 8:1 and declared: There is now no condemnation for those of us in Christ Jesus. Phew! Thank you, Lord.
As we try to walk step by step along the trapeze wire of our earthly existence, balancing precariously above the pits in our lives, let us be grateful for the safety net God has slung under our wire: His unconditional love. He will not condemn us. He will never leave us nor forsake us. He walks with us WHILE He grows us in our faith.
