How to Grow Your Faith? Take Risks
I love Abba Father. Often I feel that I don’t give enough to Him. So when a friend asked me this question recently: “What can one bring to a King who owns it all?” it got me thinking. What is important to the Heavenly Father? What can I give to my King?I believe faith is the answer. Faith is meaningful to the Mighty God. For without faith we cannot please God. (Heb. 11:6) So I decided I’ll bring Abba the gift of my faith. But that choice has two implications: God may withhold information from me because He wants to activate my faith. He may not want me to have access to “sight” (i.e. knowing information, having the hard facts, seeing the footsteps to follow. ) In the past that would have frustrated me. Previously I would rather have walked by sight, and not use faith. Now I’m excited about using FAITH. Therefore, I can receive gratefully Abba’s “silence” or non-answer as a gift — because it encourages my faith. When He gives me opportunities to do things without knowledge (sight), He is calling upon me to use only my faith. Why? Because this act pleases Him.Another implication: when I am using faith, I get to do things WITH God. (Or how else would I accomplish the task?) This is the Christian adventure: While using the Faith of God, I get to take risks to see God disclose Himself in me, through me and around me.I love this verse: “He who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I too will love him and disclose myself to him.” (John 14:21b). The word “disclose” is the Greek: emphanizo, which means to show oneself, highlight oneself, or declare who one is.So: I offer God faith. In turn, He emphasizes Himself in my life. There is a dynamic feedback loop in this process: God gifts me with His divine faith. I then use that faith to offer Him a gift in return, my faith. This pleases Him, so He reveals more of Himself to me. That revelation strengthens me, so I take more risks for Him. Taking risks grows my faith. And the loop continues. Praise you, Elohiym. What risk does God call you to take for Him today? In Christ,
