Sing a Victory Song!

When someone asked me to cite a favorite verse, I shared Colossians 2:15. “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, [Jesus] made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”  I love this verse, because in this world we see evil all around us, and I hate it. But we have a victory over evil because Jesus defeated satan.  This was a once-and-for-all defeat which happened at the time the Lord was crucified and resurrected. This verse declares the FACT that evil has been disarmed and stripped of power.  It is critically important to me.Visualize  with me Jesus making a public spectacle of all evil — little demon entities, the principalities and powers — stripped naked being led to the pit of hell as captives in a victory parade.I embrace the FACT that we have (past tense),are (present tense) and will (future tense)triumph over evil. All the annoying and harassing spirit entities, all the word curses and ungodly beliefs, all the destructive strongholds in our lives have been crushed because Jesus was nailed to the cross.I love this idea:  the root word for “triumphing” means to sing a victory hymn.  Recall, the 19th century hymn, “Stand up, Stand up for Jesus?”  Let’s go into our day, voices raised, singing it.  The second verse is: “Raise high His Royal Banner; we will not suffer loss.” How can you go wrong believing that? In Christ,
