Jesus as your “Cakan”

The Hebrew word, cakan (sah-han’) means “to be of service.”  The psalmist says, “You, LORD, are familiar with all my ways. (139:3).”  This verb, cakan, means to be a steward of someone, to know that person intimately, to work for his benefit. To cakan, also means to create harmony for a person. Consider those descriptors when it comes to God being in your life. The LORD’s purpose is to be your cakan, your personal servant.

Perhaps I have been watching too much of Downton Abbey.  Maybe I wish I had a lady’s maid, or my own personal butler.  How marvelous that God is offering to step into that role in my life.  He declares that He is my cakan, the person who knows my every need, and works tirelessly on my behalf.  My cakan is my steward.  And just like a master or mistress who has a valet or maid, I can turn to God for ALL MY NEEDS.  It is His heart’s desire to serve me and please me. Wow!  The Almighty wanting to please me!!  Wrap your head around that fact.

Try this prayer:  Lord, I thank you that you know me intimately and are acquitted with my every actions  You are my steward, my butler, my lady’s maid.  You are always working for my benefit.  Your desire is to produce harmony in my life.  I am so, so grateful, Lord Jesus.
