Jesus’s Act of Love: (from Mat. 5:1-2)

JesusActsofLoveMARCH

Jesus demonstrated his love towards his disciples by  taking those committed to him, and leading these followers to a comfortable spot to learn from him.  There on a beautiful, quiet hillside,  away from the press of the world, Jesus sat down and taught his disciples. His teachings were radical and revolutionizing. But to hear these new ideas, first the seekers had to sit in Jesus’ presence and quietly hear the Son of God speak.

The result of this act of love was Jesus showing his followers the importance of pulling away from the noisy, busy, people-filled, demanding world around them.  In his love he modeled the need to sit comfortably, quietly and learn about God and his heavenly kingdom as it should be on earth.

The application of this is our recognizing this example of loving behavior in our current world, in our own daily lives.  I often think that “to love” is “to do for” someone.  I am learning that sitting still to soak in Jesus’s Person is the essence of loving and being loved.
