Living Out Your Day with God’s Priorities

On a day that is scheduled, I don’t fret about knowing God’s will.  My calendar tells me what to do:  see this person, or fix that thing, or run that errand.  But on an unstructured day, it is difficult to set my priorities.  Certainly I try to be intentional about what I choose to do with my time.  I hope my decision lines up with God’s will. But, honestly, does God prefer me to do a load of laundry, buy groceries or cut the grass?  Or does He care whether I call a friend, study the Bible, or take the dogs for a walk?  I don’t always know. This can cause frustration. So He gave me Psalm 105:4 to help with this issue.  Seek the LORD and His strength; seek His face evermore! In so doing, Jesus suggested five principles when it comes to living my life according to His plan.

  1. Assuming it lines up with the Word of God, it doesn’t so much matter what I do.   What matters is the condition of my heart and the attitude of my mind as I do it.
  2. Anything that I do that is not based in faith, is sin. (Rom. 14:23)
  3. The Lord wants me to do everything in dependence on Him, for apart from Him, I can do nothing. (John 15:5)
  4. I am to do all in the name of Jesus. (Col. 3:17)
  5. The “referee” (my inner voice), telling me that I am following His way, is  Peace ruling in my heart. (Col. 3:15)

At the end of a day, wouldn’t it be nice to knowthat Jesus is smiling because you lived out your day free from frustration, knowing that you walked through the daythe way He wanted you to? large-signature
