Part II: Afraid? Eat Supper with the King of Kings
Afraid? There are so many fears that we human beings have: fear of loss, of pain, of sickness, of finances to name a few. And one of our greatest desires is to overcome our fears. Let me suggest that eating supper with Jesus is a way to overcome your fears. Let me explain.
There are three root causes of unhealthy fears, in my opinion. One is fear stemming from cellular damage due to trauma. That means when a trauma occurred your body remembers the fear, and stores it in your cells. When something similar to the original trauma occurs, a fear response automatically kicks in. The solution to this fear is inner healing and prayer.
The second cause of our fears is believing something ungodly or holding on to a lie. When we think hold an idea that is not in alignment with God we can allow the lie to trigger fear. In this case, we need to identify the lie and replace it with a scriptural truth.
A third cause of being afraid is the simple idea that somehow a spirit of fear has settled on you. God says in 2 Timothy 1:7, “I have not given you a spirit of fear.” So God would want us to rebuke that spirit, and claim what He did give us: Love, power and a sound mind.
All three solutions — inner healing, exchanging a God-truth for an ungodly belief, and rebuking the enemy’s presence — are available to us when we come into the presence of the King of Kings. Simply put: eat supper with Jesus, and ask for what you need to overcome your fears, and He will do it. Boaz, the Redeemer of Ruth, says to her, “Now my daughter, Don’t be afraid, I will do for you all you ask. . . . for you are a woman of excellence.” Ruth 3:11
