STRESS RELIEF FOR CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY: TWO KINDS OF SOLUTIONS

Are you looking for stress relief during the holidays?   Does the stress of “making Christmas” drive you bonkers?  In this video, I take a look at what causes the stress during the holidays.  I offer suggestions on how you can manage your emotions better as you go through these days.

I offer two types of solutions:  from the field of psychology and from Scripture and our faith in Jesus.  First problem many of us have is overly high expectations.  We desire to achieve our “to-do” list at 100% perfection.  So one thought is to shuck that perfectionistic attitude.  Give yourself a break.  Love yourself.

Another problem that causes stress is a shaking of our roles and identity.  This can be averted by anchoring yourself in Christ.  Finally, when you’re faced with interpersonal conflicts, your using the faith-based tool of Spiritual Breathing can help you manage your emotions. 

The key is to seek Jesus — His wisdom, His love, His peace — above all the hustle and bustle, and demands of the season. Perfection and happiness come from Him alone.  This is easily done if first you repentof the worldly perspective that is plaguing you.  Then ask the Holy Spirit to fill you and empower you. The peace of Christ will be upon you.
